Conservative Racial Demagogues

While it could be said that I have a preoccupation with the correlation between conservatism and racism, I did not embark on the "article-ascertaining" process looking for something about the subject; it was on the front page theatlantic.com. What the author talks about is why conservative pundits/leaders receive liberal ire for saying racist things even though these same men claim to "not see race" when dealing with politics and why claiming that liberals are racists for "turning everything into a racial issue" is an invalid response to deserved criticism.

  2. Its ridiculous how much Gingrich twisted around Obama's reaction of the investigation. Like…he just shoved a whole different meaning into that response. Saudi Arabia is never going to permit churches on its territory…and so what if Obama actually was truly Muslim in some way? Gingrich probably cracks racist jokes frequently by his use of language..

  3. Just the fact that the conservatives are making this point suggests that they see color, religion, sexual orientation. They're trying to pin it on the liberals, when in fact, they are trying to ban gay marriages and such. To me at least, I really don't see liberals making any sort of deal over these sorts of issues. They are just letting it float over, just like any other issue, unlike Limbaugh-- speaking out about it in national television.

  4. +1 to Aidan on the sexual orientation. If you see it, and it does not concern you, why should you attempt to change what someone cannot help?

I'm sure if i were to float on over to something like FOX I would see a stockpiled of derogatory, inflammatory comments directed towards Obama, his family, as well as the Democratic party in general but nobody's going to raise the red flag, they're in their home territory!

  5. Wow. This is such a two way issue, and you cant pin this on conservatives. I'm tired of the damn stereotypes on conservatives when you have whatshisface liberal comedian calling Sarah Palin the c word. So to answer your question no, conservatism and racism have no correlation.

  6. This is ridiculous. For Gingrich to twist Obama's comment like that just shows how weak he is, and he's trying to bring Obama down. Obama simply made a comment that was in no way racist or anything bad, but of course Gingrich tried to turn it around and make it out like he did. I see what you did there, Gingrich.

  7. The Evil Dr. Gingrich strikes again! I think that we just need to completely get off the topic of race and get back onto topics that are going to be problems for America in the next four years. I don't see why the candidates get caught up on the dumb things and leave the actual important things aside.
