Romney pulls through in Illinois

Well it looks like this guy isn't fooling. He hasn't fallen off yet, and he just keeps winning. Romney is making this hard for the more conservatives, but he finally showed them why they should vote for him, and that it's because he has the best chance in the presidential election. Can't wait to see how he pulls through.

  1. Romney's prospects are looking up. By advertising his electability over Santorum in the general election he has finally found a way to persuade the more conservative voters to defect to his camp. And in this action, Romney also prevents getting pulled o the more conservative side, which would hurt his electability. So by protecting his electability, he also is winning in the primaries. I don't think the GOP candidate will be a surprise, it's more of a matter of how long Santorum will be a thorn in Romney's side.

  2. I've thought that this outcome was pretty inevitable. To me, Santorum's previous success seemed a bit artificial, in that he was only getting support from the far right wing. There's no way the conservative party would put up such an extremist candidate in the general election, so I think these results are a preview of the upcoming months. It will be interesting to see how much longer the other candidates stick around.

    1. Santorum's appeal caters to a smaller, shallower pool of people than the general populace. He's done a good job at distancing himself from the core party as well as moderately conservative americans, i'll have to agree with this statement above.

  3. Romney really seems to be pulling away in this race. Gingrich looks like he should grab some bench, and Santorum is slowly falling behind. I think that Romney is the only candidate that, at this point, can give O'bama a run for his money.

  4. I'll certainly agree he has the best chance at defeating Obama however like every other candidate he's still hard to completely connect with. If Mr. Romney "believes in us" the American People then perhaps he should establish some new views that we can relate to. I wonder how well Romney would do if he spent less money towards campaigning himself. People just want someone to beat Obama.. and well… Surprise!

  5. I think this is a good sign for republican voters. It looks like they're finally getting behind a candidate. Of course as I say this, I'm sure that Santorum will surprise me again and win the next state. Hopefully, that won't happen so I will look smart.

  6. I think we've pretty much exhausted commenting on the subject. Romney's backing into the nomination just like everybody thought he would. Republican voters tested out Santorum, then came to the conclusion that he was not suitable. Once Santorum got some support, he started feeling confident, and came out with some pretty extreme opinions. Saying things like "college is for elitists," especially coming out of the mouth of a man with multiple degrees who is running against a man whose most prominent faults are inconsistency and hypocrisy, cost him the support of more moderates who began to see him as a legitimate alternative.

  7. Romney is making his case for the nomination, just like we all knew he would. Santorum is too extreme, Newt is a grouch, and Paul is weird. Romney is the obvious safe choice, and is the only one that can actually beat Obama in my opinion, despite the fact that it is extremely hard to connect with him. Illinois was a huge win for him, but it shouldnt be a surprise.

  8. I agree that he has the best chance at beating Obama in the election, however it's still going to be a close call as to who becomes the nominee for the presidential election. It's been nothing but surprises thus far, so who knows where Romney will end up.

  9. Romney remains consistent, and I think that Santorum needs to do something drastic to alter Romney's consistancy. I think that Romney is definitely making a strong case for both the GOP primary election and the general election. I just think that he needs to be consistent in his policies and not change opinions.
