Well, it's about time Santorum.
Here's a nice little video of a montage of Santorum's best moments throughout his campaign. One of his best moments was when he said that he didn't want to make "black people's lives better" by giving them "somebody else's money." Nice one Santorum.

Do you hear a giant cheer in the distance? It's everyone around the world applauding his drop out. His far right views certainly did help him with those voters in seek of a more moderate view from him. "There is no such thing as global warming" Calling president obama a "snob" that was a great moment. " We are not done fighting"--- I sure hope to god is fight is over for the presidency.
ReplyDeleteAs funny as the video is we need to remember that most, if not all, of the clips are taken out of context. Santorum made a good solid run in the primaries. I do think that maybe he could have stayed in the running a little longer, but for him to drop out will better benefit the GOP in the long run.

Delete"Hi, I'm Rick Santorum, and this is Jackass." that is just about what every clip in that video made him out to be. He is now suspending his campaign, and if he does come back, I hope he has a new flair, and a new ability to strike the voters, for his sake, because he has lost all of his abilities in the field.
ReplyDeleteSorry alyson. "Well it's about time" just isn't right. While it is true that he probably wouldnt win the nomination, Santorum is in second place. You may have not liked him, but he did run one of the most improbable nomination races of all time. A guy with little money going against Mega-Millions Mitt, winning 11 states, and winning more countys than all the other candidates combined? Saying "It's about Time" just isnt fair. You're making it seem like he had Ron Paul status in this race. He had some slip ups, but everyone does. I dont 100% agree with his policies, but you have to give the guy some respect.

Deletepersonally I think it's safe to say that I have a moderate view of politics and I have to say i think you guys are kinda being assholes (Those who are coming at Rick). Everyone has slip ups and every single republican who was running, was running for one reason. To help America be great. Rick had a great campaign and did an amazing job, I believe with the resources that he had. You may not agree with his polices but you have to respect the man.
ReplyDeleteI don't really find Santorum's rise to prominence to be something worthy of anybody's respect, no matter how begrudging it may be. He was in the right place at the right time. The extremists that have hijacked the Republican party were in "anybody but Mitt" mode. They would have voted for anybody championing social conservativism (because it's the only thing they can wrap their minds around), and Santorum, he of the pre-modern era notions of the applicability of religious teachings, was there to oblige. He was there to indulge the tea-party wing of the GOP, and once they came to the unfortunate conclusion that he wasn't a practical candidate, they set him, along with their fanatical, faint, and dubious aspirations, loose to wreak havoc on the few that will continue to listen. I'm going to go ahead and characterize this event as "probably a good thing." I might be able to respect for Santorum sticking to his guns and genuinely believing in something if not for the fact that those guns were as antiquated as they were repugnant.
