Santorum shifts into another gear

Santorum has pulled ahead in the Missouri and Minnesota caucuses as the projected winner. With Colorado still processing results, Romney and Santorum both share 37% of the vote - either way, the uphill struggle our more conservative candidate has led with both his ailing daughter and candidacy seems to have gotten a breath of fresh air.

This is no way changes my opinion towards him, or any of the Republican Runners.

  1. Its over. I believe after this landslide victory that Santorum is going to get the Nomination. He got a huge win in these three major states, while Sir Romney won little to nothing. With the winning of three states Santorum pulled away in the primaries. It will be interesting to see what happens after all the dust has settled after these states and see where Romney stands.

    1. woah woah woah, little early there. Romney will still get the nomination. There was a surge for Santorum yes, but three small primary wins in three days wont win you a nomination. But you have to be impressed with his ability to win despite not having as much money.

  2. This is a huge win for Santorum. After Romney won two of the first three caucuses, Santorum really needed to get back in the game-- which is exactly what he did. These results really showed that Santorum is certainly a strong contender against Romney in the nomination. I think that this nomination is really going to come down to the wire between Romney and Santorum.

  3. let me rephrase my opinion: I don't think it will be a lock for Santorum, but I do think that this adds a little zing to the race because now Romney does not look to be that clear of a front runner.

  4. Santorum drops the three pointer. I'm not saying Santorum necessarily need to continue to nail all of the next states but he must stay somewhat consistent so people can see his face around. I think Ron Paul is holding on as tight as he can to the rope here but his fingers are slipping off. Hope For Santorum? If you want to believe in it. As Aidan and The Gerrymanderer stated it was clearly a huge homerun and hopefully his batting skills continue to swing hard and make contact with the ball.

  5. I honestly forgot about Santorum and wasn't expecting him to win three caucuses in one night. Though he's not as outrageous as Gingrich, I still like the looks of these results. If Santorum can pull ahead and stay ahead of Romney, he could win the nomination. Then I really don't see him winning the general election at all. Which is a beautiful thing.

  6. Santorum with a triple upset. Santorum should ask Gingrich to back him up, it would be very ironic, considering Gingrich thought that he would be winning more than Rick. At this moment I feel most for Romney, because he is only losing votes because he is more moderate than the other candidates, who will have no chance in the general election. well, good luck to those guys.

  7. The only person happier than Rick Santorum right now is Barack Obama. Rick Santorum's chances of winning a general election are about as slim as the chances he would have in winning a competition determined by a combination of intellect and fashion sense. Most people consider the fact that he took home and lived with a dead baby for a week to be at the very least "off-putting." What this does indicate is that the Republican Party seems to be going to the Tea Party. Centrist Romney has only won two states, and one of them was New Hampshire so that doesn't really count, while crazy person Santorum won three in one night.

  8. Santorum winning three caucuses in one night is awesome - it could mean that he might win the nomination. And that would be a great thing for the presidential election because it would just mean that he would lose, and Obama would win. I can imagine Obama is ecstatic about Santorum starting to pull ahead in the nomination. I'm curious to see whether Romney or Santorum will win the nomination...the more moderate guy? or the crazy guy?

  9. I didn't expect this at all from Santorum, but I think it's good for the Republican party. Right when it began to look like Romney was going to run away with the nomination, Santorum gets a few wins in a row and now this race is going to get intense. I think it's good for Republicans to now have another viable candidate. Undecided voters are more likely to vote for the front runner, which used to be Romney, but now there is clearly no front runner. This race is going to be very interesting to watch and I really can't predict who's going to win because I thought Romney had it locked up before.

  10. The three wins for Santorum does make the Republican Primary more interesting, however, in all three victories he beat Romney by a very small margin. I do not really think that Santorum stands a change against Romney until I begin to see some sweeps by Santorum. The race will definitely get more interesting as the more conservative state caucuses approach.

  11. First we thought it was Hermain all the way, then Romney, and now some believe Santorum. regardless of who wins the Republican nomination they are not going to win the general election. They will put up a fight, maybe, but they wont win. But when all said and done none of this is going to even matter because there will be no change regardless of whose in office because the government wont agree on anything and WONT get anything done. China is going to become the new super power and im moving to Canada. #PeaceN'Blessins
