People Getting Sick of Occupy Wall Street

This article references comments made by liberal comedian Bill Maher about the Occupy movements and wonders if they are reflective of generally souring opinions. Do you think it's time for the Occupy people to go home? Should they have been there in the first place? Do they still matter?

  1. This man is rich. Rich in humor that is. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if more than a million new videos have been uploaded onto YouTube regarding anything relevant with Wall Street. I just got completely sidetracked viewing videos from Wall Street. It's getting a bit out of hand, yet do I deserve any opinion considering I haven't faced any of the problems some of these people have faced? I'm sure there's tons of theft going on and people as said are simply just jumping in for the ride. I agree with Maher in that the wiser ones who first began in the movement have using their common sense and packed their bags.

  2. This is actually a really good point. Yeah, Occupy was a great movement, but it's been nearly 6 months-- I think they proved their point. At this point, the movement is getting a bit old, and as Maher said is probably starting to piss people off. The movement showed great organization and unity, but I think it's time to give it up. They proved their point-- now its time to back out before it starts to cause problems.

    1. I agree with Aidan on this. I think that Occupy has gone on long enough and that they have made a big enough hassle for the governments. They don't want to prolong this movement for too long or else they will start to have a very negative effect and not start and make any positive change.

  3. I agree with Bill Maher on this. It was a great idea in the beginning and it made an impact around the country but now the people that are left are just lingering. They're more annoying and smelly than inspirational and tough. There's a point where the positive group that's trying to make a change for the better in the country turns into a smaller, negative group that's trying to point out the country's flaws and not doing much else.

  4. I feel as though the occupy people have lost a lot of attention because people are losing interest. At first people believed that the whole "99%" campaign would bring some kind of change, whether it be big or small, but it hasn't done much of anything, and while these people are protesting not having money, they could be out in the world trying to make money. Their loss.

  5. I think the occupy movement is slowly coming to an end. People are losing interest, so it has no affect on much of anything anymore. The occupy people are more annoying now than anything else. They've reached the point at which they have no affect anymore except negativity.

  6. Honestly I didn't even know that they were still there. Obviously they're not getting as much media coverage anymore and that clearly hurts their purpose. I think that the occupy movement did a great job at first. It was meaningful, peaceful, and tactful. However, if everyone remembers, as time went on the press began to find things within the camps that began to hurt the protestors' image, such as drugs and things of that sort. I think that their prime is clearly over and their presence is only hurting their cause, so they should definitely pack it in and head on home.

  7. I have to admit that I agree with Alex in that I had no idea that there were people still occupying Wall Street. I think at this point, the occupants got their point across as well as they possibly could with that tactic. At this point it is becoming a legitimate health concern with the cold weather. It surprises me that people continue to occupy Wall Street even though they do not receive media coverage anymore.

  8. lets face it occupy is doing nothing productive (anymore). If anything its leaving a negative impact on us now. Occupy is becoming nothing more than a social gathering full of pot smoking hippies and this guy > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrPGoPFRUdc

  9. Also, they arent even recieving that much if any media coverage anymore which means people are obviously losing interest. GO HOME.
