Stiff Mitt
Now that the GOP nominee has been all but officially chosen, this article basically goes over why some people didnt like him in the first place: he's too stiff. He can't really get connected to voters, because of his different lifestyle. However, the people who know him closely say that he is simply trying to hard, and that if he left people know the real him, he would succeed.

That was 3 decades ago…people change. Where exactly does Mitt have to be to achieve this state of comfort in which he can be "himself"? He's gotta break out of his little shell and say "Look at me, would you just look at me?" I very much enjoyed an old classmate of his having a recollection of Mitt doing doughnuts in snowy parking lots. That's What I'm Talking About. Hey Romney, "Take A Walk On The Wild Side". (show the true personality that you've been supposedly hiding)" and the voting people go do dodo" (win the election)
ReplyDeleteIt is hard for anyone in the election to truly "be themselves". They are running to try and get the most votes. If a high school teenager was 100% themselves I really doubt they would be the most popular kid in the school. They have to work to impress everyone from the jocks to the nerds or in Romney's case the rich guys to the blue collar workers.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't need to know the personal life of my president too well. He needs to be a strong leader, and I think that Mitt Romney portrayed himself in that manner. I realize that people want to connect to their president, but I look at it as a professional relationship so I think that Romney won't have much of a problem with this come November.
ReplyDeleteMy President needs to do his job, no matter what. I believe in the likes of Clinton and JFK, and I believe that they did their jobs well even with the things that they did behind closed doors. Personal lives are just that, personal. I believe that they need some privacy as well.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I don't think it really matters that people don't like Romney. Even though his approval ratings are something like minus 12, he's polling neck and neck with Obama. Even though people don't like Romney, he won his party's nomination. Everybody talks about how horrible he is right up until they cast their vote for him. Republicans hate Obama and their are more Republicans than Democrats in the country. Obama's election in 2008 was an extraordinary circumstance and now that his star-power has been dulled by the realities of the toxic political environment in DC, he longer has the advantage of not being perceived as responsible for it. Meanwhile, Romney is white, new, moderate, non-threatening, and doesn't have four years of relative failure to explain.
ReplyDeleteObviously republican voters don't dislike him that much because he won the Republican nomination. Republicans don't like Obama so they are obviously going to vote for Romney. I really don't think it matters at this point if people think he's "stiff" or not he is the Republican candidate and that's that. if anything he may a small edge because like Jake said he doesn't have four years of relative failure to explain to the voters.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Romney's personal life really matters that much... Republican voters obviously like him since he won the Republican nominee. The most important thing is that he is a good leader and can do his job well.
