Tying Down Romney.

Scripting the debate as sharply as possible, Fox News Anchor Mr. Baier refused to hold back as he fired away at Romney. The 12 questions that were lined up were no joke. Would Romney release his tax returns was quite a genuine question, that will certainly affect people's views. A real smack in the face I felt was the statement about Romney having family in Mexico, yet him having one of strict lines on immigration reform. Romney's lead is really gotten to people and pretty soon I hope he doesn't begin to look like Herman.

  1. I proclaim this to be last time I ever type the words Mitt and Romney in this blog. I don't understand what the reporter wishes to accomplish with this. Sure he exposes the candidate's flaws, but he doesn't suggest an alternative. He doesn't suggest one because there isn't one. Insulting the candidate is counter-productive, because it brings the country closer to another Obama term. Surely Baier is a shrewd enough analyst to understand that Romney is his only chance at getting a republican in the White House. I think his journalistic ego is getting the way of his political ideology.

  2. I believe Mr. Baier needs to acknowledge the fact that his job is to ask the questions in these debates. Of course he's entitled to his opinions and of course he can ask whatever he wants, but there's a point where he becomes incredibly transparent. My point is that Mr. Baier should not be trying to "fix" a debate in order to attempt to point out a candidate's flaws (Mitt Romney). Instead, he should just focus on his job and read the questions so that the American people can decide for themselves.

  3. I agree with Jake and Alex with both of there points. First, I do not understand Mr. Baier's purpose with these questions. I believe his ego in his occupation is giving him a big head. There is no reason to try and make your best possible presidential candidate look bad. Second, Mr. Baier should not be waisting so much time in energy into fixing a debate so that he can point out Mr. Romney's flaws. We all have flaws. Obviously his own bias was influenced in this debate towards Mitt which in this case is just unprofessional.

  4. Baier definitely was sending out loaded questions to Romney, making it difficult for him to give any kind of right answer. I think that it is clear that Baier was doing this because Fox is widely known as being bias in favor right wing conservationism and he was trying to put Romney in a tough position because Romney is a more liberal Republican. I don't think that the questions for Romney were fair, but nothing in politics is fair.
