As Graduates Rise in China, They Say No Thanks to Factory Jobs
I found this article really interesting and it caught my eye. I am happy that the Chinese graduates are not taking factory jobs. I understand that most of our products are made in China; but now if they stop taking jobs, maybe the United States may start making their own stuff again. I think that would be good for our debt and for jobs. What do you guys think?

I agree with Aubrey. The more educated people become, the less they will want the horrible paying factory jobs. Hopefully instead of just looking elsewhere for more cheap labor the major American businesses will actually hire Americans. It will add more jobs to the economy and get more money flowing. Also we could see some of those decrepit old factory buildings once again put into use. However, I just hope the U.S and China switch roles and we start making all of their stuff.
ReplyDeleteI agree as well. I am glad to see more of the getting a higher education. I also would like to see more of those factory jobs come back to the U.S. Even if just a few major corporations came back to American, that would significantly help the U.S. economy. I am going to China this summer, and will be at Beijing University. I will ask around and to find their point of view on factory jobs vs. higher education as well as what they think about them exporting cheap goods all around the world, but especially in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteThis is like what happened here in America creating such a space for the illegals to come and take the jobs. They feel they're beneath the labor thus refuse to do it. It would be marvelous if the United States started manufacturing more of our own products again. People have finally realized how bad things can really get when the economy collapses and would be grateful to have the jobs back.
ReplyDeleteChina's economy with heavy levels of government intervention makes it less responsive to market signals. The government has given an expensive college education to millions of people that don't need one. This glut of highly qualified graduates that are useless because they're too snobby to work in factories is and will be a significant drag on China's economy. However, jobs won't return to the US because there are still other places with even cheaper labor.
