Alex Jones: Enlightened or Insane?

In this video pro-gun conservative(and I feel even that is an understatement) Alex Jones of Texas debates Piers Morgan on gun control laws.  Alex Jones was one of a few people to orchestrate a petition to have Piers Morgan deported for what he said. He calls Piers a "hatchet man" for Obama and many other offensive things. While he does cite sound facts ultimately I feel as though he comes across as a raving lunatic who happens to be extremely rude, believing the government will turn to communism and oppression should the 2nd amendment be taken away;however, while Alex Jones is very focused on guns, I also noticed he has many other things concerning politics(so Nora don't kill me). He has a website, a radio show, and a YouTube channel. What unnerves me is how paranoid and seemingly mad Alex Jones is and yet he still has managed to attract  a significant following. I included links to other points of interest below.

  1. Being that Brian showed me this video, I agree with Brian on this video. The one guy just goes off on Piers and doesn't show any mercy. I could not even finish the video because I just couldn't stand to hear this guy talk about what he did. As for Alex Jones thinking that the United States will become Communists...umm what? Didn't we fight against that during the Cold War? Don't we frown upon that type of government (well not frown on, but you know what I mean)? I feel that this man (Alex Jones) goes off the rail on all his ideas to where most, if not all, will come true.

  2. While some of the things he said where true the way you deliver a speech influences what people think of you. Also his fact on violent crime may be a little misleading. We have two different organizations gathering these facts what one organization sees as a violent crime may differ in the other. I think it was kinda funny watching Piers get rushed on his own show though, since he has been known to do that to his own guests.

  3. This seems like a perfect example of the relationship that exists in this country between the twenty four hour 'for profit' news media cycle and the types of personalities like this guy who have seemed to gain momentum over the past few years. The media networks obviously have a lot of time to fill and need to attract viewers for all of it, especially during their prime time shows such as Piers Morgans'. As a result, they often have people like Alex Jones on as guests and this works out petty well for the networks as these people are entertaining to watch and liven up conversations and arguments that some viewers might not find particularly interesting. The problem I have with this is it seems to swing the arguments into a more extreme place because by being on these shows, people like Alex Morgan instantly gain credibility and notoriety. Because of the internet, Alex Jones will get his views out no matter what but that doesn't mean that he should be featured prominently on prime time news television, giving his more extreme argument a lot more traction than I think most people would think it deserves.

  4. I really don;t know how to react to this. I have seem this guy before and I can't even watch him. The worst part of it is that people who listen to him actually believe what he is saying. People like Alex Jones are why there is so much debate and gridlock over the simplest issues (not that gun control is a simple issue). I really hope people realism that this guys is insane and they realize he his not making sense. Also, it is just wrong to be that disrespectful to a person, especially a public figure on TV.

  5. Despite all of the craziness coming out of Alex Jones' mouth, that video was very entertaining. Like Dan said, his opinion will reach the masses since it's on the internet though. He has a very loyal following that is probably made up of the same people who signed the petition to deport the host of that interview, Piers Morgan, for not supporting the second amendment. I can see why people would watch him to get a good laugh, but he is just too much of an extremist to agree with through the eyes of the average person.

  6. There are wackos on both sides. But they're just that. Wackos. I don't ever give these people too much credit. I mean congrats on your website and radio show but let's not jump to communism just yet
