Pro-Life Republicans Take Stances on Planned Parenthood Shooting

Pro-Life Republicans Take Stances on Planned Parenthood Shooting

In response to the recent shootings in Colorado outside a Planned Parenthood location, Republicans have tried to take this event and use it as fuel to argue against the organization. Huckabee has shown his pro-life opinions in the following statement: "There's no excuse for killing other people, whether it's happening inside the Planned Parenthood headquarters, inside their clinics where many millions of babies die, or whether it's people attacking Planned Parenthood". Trump has also shown a discomfort with abortion and the actions of Planned Parenthood. Where do you stand on the tragedy that occurred in Colorado? How do you think the support or disapproval of Planned Parenthood will affect the 2016 election?

  1. I don't think candidates supporting or taking stances against planned parenthood will really change anything in the 2016 election, as their party will most likely dictate their stance, and voters most likely already know what their stance on abortion is.

  2. I agree with Ryan, party affiliation pretty much determines a candidate's stance on abortion and Planned Parenthood. I also think it's horrible that anyone would use a tragedy to get a leg up in politics.

  3. It's one thing to take a stance for what you believe in, it's another thing to be violent about it. Those who wish to argue their point should do it with words-not actions that can't be undone. I think that too many people are bringing their passionate opinions on cultural issues into politics. Even so, I doubt the stance people take on Planned Parenthood will make much of a difference in the 2016 election. The party's stances' have been obvious for years and I doubt that will change anytime soon.

  4. There is only one legitimate "stance" on the shooting, and that is that it is appalling and tragic. The entire Planned Parenthood controversy, in my opinion, is useless and based on misinformation. The government funds that Planned Parenthood receives do not go towards abortion, but rather to promoting women's health. The conversation should end there, but still it persists. I hope that Planned Parenthood will not be a major topic of conversation in the election, as it is a nonissue.

  5. The shooting while horrible and tragic will not affect anyone's opinions on abortion or planned parenthood and the vast majority of people have chosen their stance on these issues long ago. I do think it is unfortunate that a government funded operation for helping women with their health is being so viciously attacked both with guns and words. The 2016 presidential campaign will not be severely affected by planned parenthood.

  6. The affiliation with the Republican Party will come with the belief of pro-life, despite what the candidate may say. I think the tragedy is awful and Republican candidates shouldn't even step in that area, because claiming the shooting was terrible just to tie it into Anti-abortion beliefs is wrong.
