Judge Handling Clinton Email Case Fumes Over State Department Delays
A State Department lawyer has failed to produce emails in the Hillary Clinton email case - and this is not the first deadline that was missed. The lawyer was unable to give a detailed excuse for missing these deadlines. Because of the ongoing primary elections, it is critical that the case keeps proceeding, as it could have great sway in Democratic nomination.
What effect do you think Clinton's campaign has on the ongoing investigation? How will the investigation affect her campaign as it continues on? What consequences could the investigation, especially if she is found in the wrong, have on the candidate's potential future as president of the United States?

I think Clinton's campaign is creaing a sense of urgency in the investigation of her emails. The primary elections have already started, and voters may want the case resolved before they decide whether or not to vote for her. But, I don't think the investigation will damage Clinton's campaign any more than it already has, unless new and decisive information is revealed concerning the severity of the offense. If Clinton's found in the wrong, she might no longer be eligible for president.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Julia on the platform that Clinton's candidacy is creating urgency to resolve the email case because many voters are awaiting results to help decide who their vote goes to. I think the more sketchy occurrences (like the State Dept lawyer who didn't come up with the emails in time) the worse it looks for Hillary, possibly damaging her campaign. I'm sure if the verdict is not in her favor, her campaign could be skewed if she's even allowed to continue running.

ReplyDeleteIf anything, the investigation is overshadowing Clinton's campaign. Clinton's campaign is acting as a roadblock for the investigation, as Hillary does not want the investigation to take up the majority of the media coverage that is focused on her. This investigation is already casting a dark shadow over her campaign, and could very well come back to bite Clinton. If Clinton is found in the wrong, it would be detrimental to her campaign, as it would show that she betrayed the public trust, which is a very hard thing to get back.
So far, the investigation has not done any serious damage to her campaign. The longer it drags on without finding significant evidence against her, the less it will hurt her. If she is found in the wrong, it could seriously affect her primary results, but if this evidence is found too late in the primary process, it might not matter.
ReplyDeleteWith the primaries starting up, I believe the urgency to reach a verdict is building. I think the verdict will sway many voters and could potentially damage her chances of getting nominated.
ReplyDeleteObviously any new results of the investigation will affect Clinton's campaign. Clinton herself has admit that she strives to work on her own transparency and honesty in her campaign and anything that tampers with her promise will heavily damage her chances for nomination. So long as nothing drastically controversial is found, her campaign should remain in tact.

ReplyDeleteI think that Clinton's campaign has spurred on this issue, considering the fact that many fewer people would have paid attention to this issue if she had not announced her candidacy. I think the issue will continue to be a thorn in the side of the Clinton campaign, but that eventually focus will drift to other topics. If she were to be found in the wrong, there would be a great disturbance in the Democratic race. The public eats this kind of thing up and if news was released that she was in the wrong, then her campaign would loose many voters, especially swing voters. The general public likes to focus on a few key stories and considering that this has been a long running issue, many now know about it. Being found in the wrong would certainly change many of the public's minds.
ReplyDeleteI do not think this has or is going too to have a huge effect on campaign. People who are don't like her will just cite this as one more reason, and people do like her will feel that they must aid her even more now due to this opposition led trail to expose nothing. As far as the nation distrusting her I'm not so sure that the emails are the root of the issue. Her relationship with Wall Street, wether you care or not, has caused is air of distrust and secrecy, and her guarded demeanor only builds on it. I feel that she hasn't handled it well, but her campaign has, shifting focus and attention in the voters.
