In her most recent ads, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton uses clips of Donald Trump in order to paint a picture of a man who is unfit to be president. Supporters claim that these ads are effective because the viewer can relate to the people in them while others believe that the ads are ineffective and offensive. Have you seen Clinton's ads? Do you believe they are effective?

One ad of Clintons that I remember seeing was the one of clips she had put together of Trump publicly insulting women. The ad reached out to parents asking them if this is the kind of president we want for our daughters. This kind of ad I believe to be very effective to parents and women of all ages specially because theres no doubt that Trump actually didn't said these things because she incorporated clips as straight evidence that Trump insulted women many times publicly.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the ads, and I think they're extremely effective. Trump is at the point of foot-in-mouth where Hillary doesn't have to dig at all to trash him, and the most able person to disenfranchise him is himself. If he's constantly voicing beliefs that are much of a political turn off as his are, good for her for using that to her advantage.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few of these ads, and they are certainly effective. A lot of people simply dismiss Mr. Trump's inappropriate comments as political nonsense. However, hearing his words as a little girl is on the screen forces viewers to consider the implications of his words. As I'm typing this comment, Mr. Trump's ad about Secretary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" statement is playing. This ad employs the same strategy as Secretary Clinton's, but it is not nearly as effective.
ReplyDeleteThese ads are very effective, particularly towards parents and women. They highlight the damage that Trump's words can cause and effectively portray him as an unprofessional candidate with little respect for much of the population he wishes to lead. Trump has shot himself in the foot numerous times by speaking out of line, and his inappropriate comments make him an easy target for Clinton's ads.
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel like this ad is effective. It doesn't even adopt the conventional political slander methods that you usually see. Instead, it takes Trump's own words and uses them against him, which is something that's pretty hard to defend. Therefore, there is an absence of the typical hyperbole which renders it more believable.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these ads, and I feel like they're definitely effective. When you're hearing Mr. Trump himself saying these things with a video of a young girl on the screen, it definitely gets across the powerful message that it's trying to make. The things that Mr. Trump has said about women and other groups of people mentioned in these commercials such as veterans or people with disabilities are terrible, so using them against him in ads such as these is a no-brainer. It's definitely a great strategy.
ReplyDeleteOh these ads are great, very well constructed. I've seen a couple of them and it really makes Trump look bad. Children are taught that they cannot bully or insult anyone so when they see the commercial showing Trump openly insulting people, it poses the question: How can parents teach their kids not to insult others yet elect a man who publicly insults people nearly daily as a role model for the United States? The ads are very logical and cannot be disputed since they are literally just quotes from Donald Trump. By far one of the most effective political ad campaigns I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these ads and they are extremely clever and effective. The component of these ads that is really powerful to people is that it is Trump himself who has said these words. Those words actually came out of Trump's mouth, so it's not like these ads are an inappropriate representation of why Trump should not be president. Hillary is just extracting what she already has to get an advantage over Trump by using his inability to keep his mouth shut and it is working well.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually thinking more about it they might not actually be effective. Again, these are words that directly came out of Trump's mouth. Everyone already knows that Trump said that. So if the people who are voting for him know that he said those things, I don't think the ads would make a difference. People voting for him already know he said those things and don't care I guess.
DeleteI have seen some of Clinton's ads and I think they are effective. Anyone who is familiar with Trump knows he is not well mannered and these advertisements support this fact. Everyone who watches the ad can tell that Trump doesn't respect woman in the way that everyone should, especially if this person may become the president. I think this is a great strategy because it really shows all of the awful things Trump says.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a majority of Clinton's ads through Facebook and Twitter and find them extremely effective. She's able to target Trump's weaknesses in a mature way that has a lasting impact on viewers. She's not attacking him brutally or unfairly like he has to her, and she's focusing on her audience. This ad in particular targets mothers and daughters and raises the point that someone who is so crude and disrespectful can't represent our (the female) interest. It's so impactful because of the use of his own voice as well as the images of girls that everyone can relate to.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Clinton's ads on TV and also shared through social media, and they're definitly effective. I especially like how it's not Clinton talking trash on Trump because it's all things that Trump has said himself. It's the perfect way for Hillary to show the people how truly awful he is. As a female, I can't imagine how any other woman would step into the voting booth and choose Trump's name. It's embarrassing for the GOP that this is who they have to represent them.
ReplyDeleteOne ad that stood out to me involved clips of Trump saying rude and offensive things about women. The ad asked parents if this is the type of president that they want their daughters to grow up with. This ad was very effective in my opinion. It elicits an emotional response and puts Trump in a very negative light. Clinton's ads are generally effective and strong, which benefit her campaign.
ReplyDeleteI have seen Clinton's ads numerous times, especially the one targeting Trump's negative comments on women, and they have are definitely effective. Clinton and her campaign crew are brilliant. The ad shows how awful Trump is by using his own appalling commentary against him. After first seeing it, the first thought that came to mind was how is trump actually a candidate? I don't know how a woman could actually vote for him after watching the ad.
ReplyDeleteI have seen most of Clinton's ads and I think they are definitely effective. It is one thing to hear the crazy remarks he made, but to be looking at videos of the people he is talking about while listening to them makes you truly realize the negative impact his comments have made on real people lives. As for claims that the ads are offensive, they are literally using Trump's own words so it's ridiculous that his supporters would say that's offensive to Trump.
ReplyDeleteI've seen these ads before, and I do believe they are very effective. To take someone's own words and turn them against them is very smart. Trump cannot defend himself after those ads were shown, he said those things and can't take them back and now millions of people know. I also believe those ads do a great job working against trump, they were terrible remarks.
ReplyDeleteI've seen these adds and I think that they do exactly what Clinton wanted them to do. I don't think Trump and his supporters can complain about them since they do not show lies, they're simply showing video clips of already publicized comments Trump has made. If he didn't want these ads to be on tv, he should've have made such horrible comments to begin with.
ReplyDeleteEach time I see one of Clinton's "Mirror" advertisements, I cringe at the voice on Donald J. Trump. We've all said the wrong thing at one time or another, but this man makes a living off of saying the wrong thing all the time. The way he talks about women is absolutely disgusting. It's genius marketing by the Clinton campaign, as well; there's no way Trump can defend himself against, well, himself.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these ads quite a few times, and I believe that they are extremely effective. With other political ads about policy, opposing party members can ignore them or chalk them up to lies, but with these ads, it is very clear that Trump has actually said these things, and it is even clearer that he is not a suitable role model for anyone, and especially should not be a candidate for the presidential office. While Trump's most staunch supporters might ignore these ads, undecided voters are very likely to have their decisions affected by them.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these ads numerous times while watching TV, and I find them to be extremely effective. The ads paint negative image of Trump, Hillary is using his own words against him and the things he says are things that can't be ignored and are words I would never repeat. Trump can't even deny that he ever said these things because there is proof and everyone has seen it. For example, everyone has heard what Trump said about women, yet he claims he treats women with respect, which nobody is buying. The ads allow you to see a side of Trump that you wouldn't normally see.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I've grown quite sick of these ads as a whole. While I can see them being very effective in limited quantities when targeted at certain audiences, I feel that as a whole, these negative ads just tear candidates down and demotivate people to vote for anyone, as both sides are presented for their negatives rather than their positives. While the Clinton campaign was right to target Trump and use his words against him, I think that they overdid this part of the campaign, and didn't do enough to promote themselves and inspire people to get out and vote, which Trump did do better. So overall, while these ads may have been effective, I think they were overused to the point where they didn't contribute in such a good way to the Clinton campaign.
