The Backlash Against Chris Christie

The Backlash Against Chris Christie

Poor poor Chris Christie. The one time esteemed governor of New Jersey has found himself in hot water again as he faces harsh criticism for endorsing Trump after speaking out against him for so long. His approval ratings have taken a dive and the GOP establishment has viciously attacked him. He most likely endorsed Trump out of the hope that he can become Trump's Vice President. Do you think Trump will pick him as a running mate? If so, was his endorsement worth it? If not, who do you think a trump might pick instead if he gets that far?

  1. I think there's a chance that Trump might pick Christie as a running mate, though this will make Christie seem very two-faced, which could lose votes for the Trump-Christie duo if they win the Republican nomination. I still don't think it was worth it for Chrisite though. He alienated his own people in New Jersey just for a chance at becoming vice president, and a lot of people will lose their respect for him because of that. I don't really know who else Trump would pick as a running mate because I haven't heard of any other politicians besides Christie and Palin that support him.

  2. I believe there is always the possibly Trump will pick Christie as his running mate but I think Trump is using him. This would make Christie seem double sided and I don't know how that would turn out if he was Trump's running mate. The duo might lose votes because of this and I still don't believe that it's even worth it for Christie. He totally alienated his people and lost their trust and respect. He did this all to try and become Vice President and a lot of people didn't like him after that because he did that. Im not really sure who else Trump would pick as his running mate becasue Trump doesn't have that many supporters. All I know of are Christie and Palin and those two are the only supporters as of now that can be the possible running mates for Trump.

  3. I don't think Trump will pick Christie as his running mate. I think he's just using Christie for show since he is the first well known political person (for lack of a better word-sorry) that is endorsing Trump. On one hand I don't think the endorsement was worth it because most people don't like Christie anymore, while on the other hand I think it was worth it because of all the media attention it gave Trump and his campaign.

I think IF Trump wins the nomination, he will definitely tone down his outlandish, inane ideas and take a more moderate stance. He'll probably (attempt to) find someone who is an established Republican, well liked, yet who would be willing to work with Trump. yeah that will be VERY hard to find....

  4. I don't think that Trump will pick Christie as his running mate either. If he were to win, I think he would pick someone as outlandish and unexpected as himself because, as an opportunist himself, Trump will want to shock the public all that he can. The bully does not often reward those who bow down to him. If Christie really believes what he once advocated so adamantly, he regrets his decision and it definitely was not worth it. I believe that he did it in order to make a point not to back the "boy in the bubble."

  5. I don't think Trump will actually pick Christie as a running mate. I think he's just using the endorsement to gain more publicity because the actual endorsement hasn't really helped or hurt his campaign. Also, I think Christie may have just chosen to support Trump because he would rather support Trump than any of the other candidates.
Trump might choose a political outsider or just someone with ideas as far fetched as his.

  6. I agree with Laura. I don't think Christie will be Trump's running mate. The person who could possibly be his running mate would have to either be a very quiet person and be very different from him or just as loud and obnoxious in order to appear as a team. If it gets that far, it will be very interesting to see who is chosen.

  7. Chris Christie’s fall in approval can be mostly a credited to his flip-flopping in his political views and opinions. Speaking out against a man and then quite drastically changing sides, does not show any qualities the voting populations would want to see in a candidate. It shows a lack of constitution and also makes him appear greedy for the vice president nod. I can’t speak for trump or his campaign managers but, there might have been a chance of Christie becoming his running mate, but I think trump is smart enough to avoid negative opinion and ratings, and for that reason I think Chris Christie is no longer an option for trump. On the matter of who he will choose as his running mate, it is up in the air and I’d rather wait and see what happens then try and through out an random guess.

  8. While I agree that Trump will not pick Christie as a running mate (although perhaps Attorney General, should he win the presidency), I disagree over why not. Should Trump become the Republican nominee, he is going to have to legitimize his campaign in some way that is radical to him, but not out of the ordinary to any other politician. He is going to have to choose a running mate who is level headed and popular in order to appeal to Republicans who lean left and independents. I don't believe he would pick someone who is similar to him in that it would not expand his voter base. If and when he receives the nomination, he is going to very quickly shift gears into general election mode, and it would be hard to do that with Christie slowing him down.

  9. I highly doubt Trump will choose Christie as his running mate if he gets the GOP nominee. Trump would probably pick someone who he thought would help him--I’m not really sure who that would be though. I think he might try to find a more moderate insider, but I don’t know how any moderate insider could ever back him. It would be very interesting (and scary, probably) to see whom he chooses if he gets the nomination.
