Romney atop GOP: milestone for Mormon faith
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2018312590_romneymormon30.html
Romney's nomination is huge for Morman faith. There has never been a Morman political contender, so this definitely marks a milestone for the religion as a whole. Religion is always a large factor in political elections, so it will be interesting to see if this is good or bad for him.

He's christian, makes a big deal about what type of christian our president is but when it comes down to it this year I do not think it matters. All of our president's have been christian. Being a morman president is not a big deal. Nearly all of our president's have been white. When being a morman president is compared to being a black president... being morman is nowhere close to being a milestone.
ReplyDeleteBeing Mormon is obviously gonna get him votes from the Mormon population, but it's really not that big of a deal that he's Mormon. I don't think him being Mormon is going to hurt or help him really. It's just kinda eh.
ReplyDeleteI personally like mormons. Jimmer Fredette was a good kid. But in all seriousness, this just shows that religious equality is evident in the United States. As Joe said, being black was a much bigger milestone than being mormon though, because of the track records of the other presidents races v religions. In my opinion the religion won't make that much of an impact on the race.
