Although I don't necessarily agree with some of the decisions being made by the democrats either, I think Palin goes a little crazy with all the name calling and accusations. Furthermore, like Evan said, many things she said during this will most likely come back to haunt her in the future. She's not helping herself any by being so ridiculous and ignorant.
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised that Sarah Palin would say what she said at the NRA rally. First of all, she is a very conservative person and former governor. Secondly, she was at an NRA rally. I think it's fair to assume that many if not all of the people in attendance of that rally share the same views as former governor Palin. However, I don't agree with how she shared those views. I don't really think it was in her best interest to say "waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists." Also she said "if I was in power," and I'm starting to think that maybe the previous quote may be one of the reasons why she is not in power.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though every time I hear Sarah Palin's name attached to a recent quote, it's a black eye not only for the Republican Party, but for nation. With that said, who knows if she is capable of making international headlines. Although, stating that we must "Put the fear of god in our enemies" is sure to stir some controversy. It is this statement that is more ridiculous to me than the "baptizing" or waterboarding of terrorists. I hope she is making these comments simply because she wants her name back in news.
ReplyDeleteI think that Sara Palin is one of the worst things to ever happen to American Politics. She is just crazy and uniformed. She makes comments to get people stirred up, but she has no idea what she is talking about. John McCain must wonder every day why he thought that she was the best pick for his Vice Presidential candidate. Seriously, "Waterboarding is how we Baptize terrorists", there is just so much wrong with that sentence.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I hear about one of Palin's public speaking appearances I am so embarrassed for her. She is always contradicting herself and her word choice makes her seem like she doesn't understand the issues she's referring to at all. I think most Americans pay attention to her in the news only to laugh at what she said, I don't think anyone has very much respect for her as a politician.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that bothers me the most about Sarah Palin isn't what she believes (although I do disagree with that), but rather how she presents her ideas. If you want to be respected and have people listen to your ideas, you need to present them in a respectful manner that is going to want to make people listen and try to be accepting of what you have to say. Using phrases such as "evil Muslim terrorist" and water boarding as Baptism is fundamentally wrong and makes American politics look bad. I think she should be viewed as an embarrassment to her party.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with the overall consensus on these comments about Palin. The things she said about terrorists, torture, and and other politicians were out of line. The people at the NRA rally might have some of the same views as she does, but she should realize that most other Americans do not. This fact makes me hopeful that she will never be "in charge" like she wants to be. I think that's something that Democrats and most Republicans can agree on.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonder how this lady ever made it to the spot as John McCain's running mate. The article starts out with her quote "If I was in charge." Well fortunately she's not. Although, as we learned this year, that majorities may not always know what's best for the country, I certainly don't think these extreme ideals reflected by her comments do either.
ReplyDeleteThis article made me sick for our nation. How this women could ever make it as far as she has in our political system is a wonder to me. Whether through ignorance or complete stupidity she made these disturbing statements that prove how little our nation has progressed as a educated nation. She said in her speech that, “I’m kidding,” after she had the heart to insult many people whom don't deserve to have to be berated by someone that was supposedly elected to office of the United States of America.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this I can't help but think that Senator McCain chose Sarah Palin as a running mate for pure political reasons. She definitely appeals to a certain type of voter and perhaps that is what McCain was going for. I do not understand how people can take her seriously. I am probably very biased on this issue, but really, "Water boarding is how we baptize terrorists" ? How did she think that that was acceptable to say?
