As part of Candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign, former President Bill Clinton is delivering speeches on her behalf. In his first speech in New Hampshire, he first described his emotional connections toward Hillary. As his speech continued, he labeled the entire field of GOP presidential candidates as “kind of scary.” Is President Clinton’s statement accurate? Why or why not?

I would not say the entire field of GOP candidates is "scary" but I would agree that several of them would not be ideal for the White House. Most of the candidates are not scary at all, but they are dragged down due to the presence of Donald Trump campaigning against them.
ReplyDeleteIt's President Clinton's opinion that the entire field of GOP presential candidates is "kind of scary." I think he's partially right - the idea that one of the more extreme candidates (such as Trump or Cruz) could become President is terrifying. But there are some more reasonable candidates (like Rubio) who I could tolerate as President, even if they wouldn't have been my first choice.
ReplyDeleteClinton's claim that the GOP candidates are "scary" is somewhat accurate. The fact that candidates such as Trump, Carson, and Cruz are running and gaining support (not so much Carson in the support spectrum) is rather unsettling. The most frightening thing is how easily candidates like Trump have swayed voters by solely making erroneous claims and lacking any realistic action plans or policies. But like Julia said, there are other candidates like Rubio and Kasich who I would be somewhat comfortable with running the country.

ReplyDeleteI personally think Trump is the only scary candidate in the GOP race. Every candidate has their pros and cons, but they are just being amplified due to the fact they are associated with Trump. I don't think Cruz or Rubio are "scary".
ReplyDeleteI think his comment was stupid. Calling the group of Republican candidates as a whole "scary" doesn't explain what Clinton means at all and it's not true. While I find the idea of a Trump presidency terrifying, someone as moderate as John Kasich isn't scary at all. Most GOP candidates have a plan, and they are just trying to do the same as the Democratic candidates, which is run for president.
ReplyDeleteWhat Clinton said is typical rhetoric at a political rally. The GOP candidates have consistently referred to a Democrat winning the White House as a terrifying disaster at both rallies and debates. I agree with Clinton, but would not use that language outside of a rally.
