Bipartisan bill would punish gun Trafficking

In this article, it talks about how this bill will ban people buying guns for criminals and will punish them greatly if they do. This I such a great idea it isn't funny. I was thinking about this in class and I was told that this was happening and I couldn't believe it. This article showed me it was real, so it was all good :) What do you guys think about this?

Sorry Nora; it's another gun law post :P

  1. I totally agree. This not nearly the size of reform that our country needs, but this is a BIG step into the right direction. I mean who could say they would not want to restrict criminals getting their hands on guns.

  2. I have no problem with things like this because who wants criminals to have firearms? No one. As long as I'm not buying a .22 for some gun kingpin in Mexico I think I'm in the clear.

  3. This law is a no-brainer that should have been passed long ago. The more important issue is implementation and enforcement once the law's passed. Fast and Furious is a recent and extremely relevant example of good intentions gone horribly wrong.

  4. I agree, if anyone has any rejections to this law I would very much like to hear the reason why. My reason is simple; it is such an ideal concept. Gun lovers keep their guns, but have to be screened first. Yes it can be inconvenient, but the law is there to protect you. On the other hand anti-gun people are getting the basic regulation they want. Its an obvious win-win. Any idiot trying to buy guns for his criminal friend should be treated as a criminal and that is exactly what this proposal does. I applaud the lawmakers who got this moving. To my knowledge it is also...BIPARTISAN! Yay they can work together!

  5. This law restricting gun regulation is one that I can agree with. Like everyone else has said it should be a no-brainer to punish those buying guns for criminals. It is nice to see the law is bipartisan.

  6. It always amazes me when I read things like this because it is stuff that I figured was just already part of the law. This is an incredibly important issue and I know that there will be a lot of controversy and resist to this but it is so worth it for everyone's safety especially to people living in high risk areas like Chicago.

  7. I can't imagine why someone would not support this, other than the Mexican drug cartels, of course. Especially since this law is bipartisan, I don't see much controversy occurring over whether or not this should become a law.

  8. I would certainly hope this law is bipartisan or else there is something wrong... As was said before, who wants to arm criminals with guns? No sane person would support that, so this is a no-brainer.

    1. I agree! I am not a supporter of gun ownership but lets at least attempt to stop criminals from having access to guns.

  9. I feel like this was a very necessary, but obvious move by the government. Why was it ever a good idea to give a criminal a firearm. Like Sebastian said this is a huge step for anti-gun laws. I do not believe that anti-gun activist will stop with this action, they will want more.
