Rick Perry with some harsh words
This struck me because I don't think Rick Perry even thinks he himself has a shot anymore. When you tell people that you're going to reassign them to a "God-awful place" you are basically telling them to shove off. It seems as though he is no longer trying to get votes but to lose votes with this. Rick Perry needs to take a note from Herman Cain and reassess his campaign.

First off by saying those who don't agree with me are going to have a problem, thats a very strong thing to say. I agree that he is trying to carry out what he wants, "to the fullest". Reorganization so he can satisfy his desires isn't necessarily the best idea. And Rick, thats really nice..let's wish misfortune upon federal bureaucrats. Perhaps he should try to remember the three federal cabinets before making any sudden movements.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that we should be surprised that Rick Perry, the same man who gave a speech in New Hampshire while he was high on cocaine (don't try to tell me he wasn't), who is from Texas, a state renowned for its dearth of rationality, has used poor judgment. But quite frankly, I like that he said something that he shouldn't have. While I would subject myself to lobotomy before I voted for Rick Perry, I want my candidates to be genuine and forthcoming. He meant what he said..."If you don't do what I want, I'm gonna make things unfavorable for you." While this an asinine thing to think, he at least he said it out loud.
ReplyDeleteLike Jake said, it's great he's being honest and all, but lets be real here; politics isn't always being honest. For Perry to openly bash such a large and important group just months before the primaries was just moronic. Sure, he's openly stating his "core philosophy", but couldn't he find a way to do that without provoking federal officials? Also, to say that EPA regulations are doing nothing but wasting revenue is sure to irritate some people. Seems like Perry is shooting himself in the foot.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me like this is Rick Perry's last real attempt at gaining any kind of momentum going into this presidential election. He made an ass of himself many of the debates, and in a desperate attempt to gain voters, he tried to use some kind of fear tactic to gain support from federal employees. I think that this just shows yet another sign of weakness for Rick Perry.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jake that Rick Perry's political tactics are not working to say the least. He's making himself seem so stubborn and whether he is or isn't that's not something the voters want in their next president. Washington is too divided, if Rick Perry, or any of the Republican Candidates, want to do well in the general election, they're going to have to show that they will be willing to compromise.
ReplyDeleteAs Mr. Danson often says in class, usually the person who is too far to the left or too far to the right does well in the primaries, but is usually considered to extreme in the main election. Rick Perry is one of those guys who is just two extreme for both. He makes Newt look like a genius, and he makes Mitt Romney look like a calm chill dude. However, like Jake i do like how he is speaking like he normally would. I would sit down and have a conversation with Rick Perry, just because he seems like a cool guy. But I agree, not a good presidential nominee.

ReplyDeleteIt's understood that in an interview there are possible slips of the tongue. However, this is ridiculous. Rick Perry has demonstrated how poor a diplomat he would be in office. It is more than the fact that it was a poorly considered statement. Rick Perry's inability to compromise and communicate without alienating others all ready makes him a terrible candidate. If Rick Perry became our president, we would soon enter into war with half of the world. In summary, Rick Perry is a douche.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aidan and Jake. We don’t want a candidate who is going to hide everything that they think and not be honest with the public, but at the same time, maybe Rick Perry was a little too honest with his thoughts. He definitely could’ve found a better way to share his opinions so that he didn’t upset quite so many federal officials.
