FBI Cheif James Comey Fired by Trump

Donald Trump fired the director of the FBI, James Comey, over his handling of the inquiry into Clinton's emails, according to the administration. This came after it emerged that the former director gave "inaccurate information to congress" about the emails. This is only the second time that the head of the FBI has been fired. What do you think of the situation? What are the implications of this? Do you believe, as some democrats have suggested, that it was a "cover up" or an attempt to subvert the ongoing investigations into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign?

  1. It's very bizarre that President Trump fired Comey in such a way. It would have been much more professional and normal to at least let Comey resign. I definitely think Comey got onto President Trump's bad side by investigating ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. It's pretty scary that the president has exercised so much individual power. With that being said, I was definitely not a fan of Comey.

  2. It's extremely unprecedented for a president to fire an FBI director in this way. The trend of people who investigate Trump being fired is definitely concerning. The White House also cannot get their story straight, and the way Trump's tweets implied that there are "tapes" of his conversations with Corey in a pretty threatening way seems to be setting the stage for Watergate part 2.

  3. I think Trump's actions are very suspicious, especially considering the fact that there isn't one story to believe. The whole situation is obscure, and it says a lot about Trump and his professionalism. What's scary is, like Ryan said, Trump made this call mainly on his own. What else will he do that's unexpected?

  4. Trump totally canned this guy just to protect himself and his Russian connections. The article mentioned how he was praising Comey for investigating the Clinton emails and now he's being fired for the Clinton emails? It doesn't really make sense and it's ultra shady.

  5. Trump's actions in firing Comey are suspicious and alarming. Numerous sources have claimed that Comey has done no harm and waa only doing his job, investigating Trump's ties with Russia. Trump's decision to fire the head of the FBI as he is under investigation implies that he is hiding something.

  6. This whole deal with the Comey firing is very suspicious. It just so happens that when Comey got close to investigating Trump's ties to Russia, he subsequently got fired. I think Trump is definitely hiding something that is incriminating.

  7. All of Trump's actions are particularly suspicious, especially the firing of Comey. The fact that nobody really knows the backstory to this, or really had a say or opinion about the situation is particularly alarming. This furthers the question on Trump and his intentions for the presidency, as if he hasn't already been questioned already by everyone.
