A Trump Economic Boom? The Fed May Stand in the Way

A Trump Economic Boom? The Fed May Stand in the Way

This article discusses Trump's plan for the economy and how his plan may affect the country. Trump has been pretty vague in these plans, but from what he has said, he wants to raise the economy much more than what is sustainable. Trump has gone back on his word a few times already though, so do you think that he will carry through with his plans? What do you think he should focus on the most in the regards to the economy? What do you think of these plans?

  1. I do not know a whole lot about the economy or the Federal Reserve or any of that fun stuff. What I do know, however, is that people's opinions of a president's success are largely based on how the economy does during his term. Regardless of our personal feelings about president-elect Trump, it's in everyone's best interest for the economy to grow and thrive during the next four years. Hopefully his economic policies don't involve sacrificing the environment and people's rights. Only time will tell how everything will turn out.

  2. This whole financial area is pretty confusing for me, but I'm hoping that Trump will find a way to improve our economic situation without lowering taxes and regulation. I don't even think he nows what to do, so we just have to see what ends up happening.

  3. Given Trump's history of not adhering to his plans, I doubt he will follow through with this one either. While a short term economic boom might make him look good, I hope he doesn't follow through and focuses on long term growth instead.

  4. To be perfectly honest, I don't understand much about economics at all, but I wouldn't be shocked if Trump went back on his word. Whatever he decides to do, I hope he listens to actual experts on the topic. He is such a prominent business man that it will be interesting to see how he handles finances.

  5. I don't really know but it seems as though Trump, somehow, is not going to follow through with his plans. He has a big mouth but what we have to lay attention to is if he actually follows through with his plans for the economy. Let's hope that everything turns out positively.

  6. I don't believe that DT is capable of making decisions that will positively affect our country's economy. Considering his only experience economically comes from running businesses and cheating "the system," I am not confident that he can improve the national economy.

  7. Trump's vague plans and previous inconsistencies on policies suggest that his hopes for the economy will not pan out exactly as he has promised. I'm not entirely sure what aspect of our economy Trump should focus on, but according to his plan it looks like wants to begin with infrastructure, which seems as good a place to start as any to me-- if he actually goes through with it.

  8. I don't think that Trump is capable of improving the American economy, as his only economic experience is built upon fraud and "cheating" the system. His plans are relatively vague and he isn't able to maintain a clear stance on what he is going to do, so it's hard to predict what he's actually going to do after he is inaugurated. I hope at the very least that he recognizes the difference between running a hotel and running a country.

  9. It seems to me that, again, Trump is oversimplifying a massive problem. Having very vague plans, in addition to a history of unreliability, I doubt that Trump's plans to improve the economy will succeed. Of course, I hope that they will, for the sake of the country, but I just don't believe that Trump has the experience necessary to make such a huge improvement in the economy. If Trump can't even avoid the bankruptcies of his own businesses, then what can we expect him to do for the massively complex economy of the country?

  10. No matter what you think of Trump, a successful economy is important. A president's success is usually measured to some degree by the status of the economy. I hope that Trump succeeds and that the economy does grow as he suggests will happen, but obviously have my doubts about his so called plans. None of these plans have any substantial detail to them and the public should be questioning this.

  11. Trump has been inconsistent and unreliable so far and I don't think that he will be able to keep his word. The economy is such a delicate and important issue and I don't think that he has plan that would actually work. He does have experience with business, but as president he can't really cheat the system. I hope he succeeds, but I think it's unlikely.

  12. I think most people who have even remotely followed Donald Trump's campaign know that there is no certainty that any claim he makes is valid, and furthermore, he cannot and will not be expected to be held accountable for anything he says. So, quite literally, there is no way of knowing, at all, if he's going to go through with the plans he's outlined. In my opinion, though, with what he's already said, I think he should focus more on investing into younger generations who will build the economy.

  13. Trump is a former businessman, and not even a particularly good one. His greatest strength has always been building his brand, whether that involved selling hotel rooms, getting TV ratings for The Apprentice, or winning the election. Trump's generalizations about his economic plans, "Buy American, Hire American," seem good on the surface, but all that's doing is isolating our country from foreign resources, voluntarily impoverishing ourselves. It's a simple economic concept- if the opportunity cost of making a product overseas is lower than the opportunity cost of making it domestically, purchase the foreign-made one and use your money to prosper in a different fashion. I believe Trump's economic policies should focus on closing the tax loopholes he so "ingeniously" exploited during his career as a businessman. Trickle down economics has proven itself to not help the middle class too much, but it might be worth trying in the short-term to spurn job creation.

  14. I think it's impossible to make a legitimate prediction regarding the success of Trump's economic plans. The plans seem oversimplified, but that might be the key to a healthy economy, we'll have to see. I hope he manages to help the economy, because that's why many people voted for him, and it would please many Americans.

  15. Considering Trump isn't really a man of his word, I don't think he'll follow through with his plans for the economy either. He does have experience in business and while this may feel reassuring, I doubt Trump will actually get anything done.
