GOP Continues to Give Heat to Democrats about Obamacare
This article discusses how Republicans are continuing to pester Democrats to get rid of Obamacare. In the article, it's mentioned that polls have been conducted, and since the Obamacare website was launched, more and more disapproving of how Obama has handled the situation. It's a fairly interesting read, even though it seems like nothing is in the news but Obamacare all the time anyway.

I am so sick of hearing about Obamacare. I think that there is an unnecessary amount of coverage on this issue. I can't look at a single news site without seeing a least one article about Obamacare. The Obama administration has acknowleged that there are problems with Obamacare, and they are working to resolve these issues. I think that people are forgetting that the goal of this law is to get more people healthcare coverage.
ReplyDeleteThe 2014 midterm races are right around the corner, and the Republicans are going to have to pull out all stops to try to recapture the Senate. It seems as though the GOP is trying to emphasize Obamacare's shortcomings to make people forget about the bad rep Republicans received after the government shutdown. With that said, the GOP will keep bashing Obamacare until at least next November. I just wish that our government officials wouldn't worry about elections 11 and a half months away.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it every time the GOP complains about Obamacare, they never back it up as to why? They're complaining about it because they're terrified that it could work and make Obama look good. That is the republicans biggest fear. Being blamed for the government shutdown and having Obamacare work would be deadly combination to the already struggling republican party.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty annoying. I don't understand even a little bit why tea party republicans refuse to work functionally with the other members of Congress after getting so much heat after the shut down. I feel like anything I could comment anything I've said before about this branch of the GOP before. It's sad nothing has changed.
ReplyDeleteThe whole "issue" with Obamacare is getting old. I feel like compromise is something you learn about in kindergarten, if there is something that you don't like, then you need to come up with a better plan, don't be critical if you have nothing better to offer. I wish that Republicans and Democrats could focus on larger national issues.

ReplyDeletePoliticians' inability to compromise is increasingly bothering the public. Just looking at the previous comments here, and knowing my own opinions, I can comfortably say that we are sick of hearing how the two parties aren't agreeing on Obamacare. A lot of people don't care about the political babble back and forth, they just want it to work, because they need healthcare. Obamacare, recently, has turned from an issue about health care, to an issue about whether or not people like Obama.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell if I'm surprised or not that the GOP is fighting against Obamacare even more than before the government shutdown. How did something like that not make people realize that compromises need to be made? Isn't it more important to keep people working and the government running than to fight a losing battle and hurt the public? I also agree with Yarrow that if they are going to continue to complain about this, they should at least try to make a better plan because going back and forth is obviously doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Yarrow 100%. If the Republicans do not have a better idea, then they should stop complaining about the only option currently available for a national health care. I think that there should be a national health care, but I don't think that Obamacare is the best option. It relies too much on our generation to work and pay for the health care needed for the now aging "baby-boomers".
ReplyDeleteMuch of the article was just a summary of the failure of the ACA's website. The article didn't really provide anything unknown, but i found it interesting how the politicians trying to take down Obamacare are acting as those they are on a crusade to rid the world of evil. I'm glad that the members of congress are doing their part in "protecting the american people" by making the repeal of Obamacare their top priority. Issues like the economy, our wars, education, employment and other matters can wait so long as the american people can be free from the tyranny of the Affordable Care Act.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Yarrow and Sam. All republicans seem to be able to say about Obamacare is that it is not working properly. Instead of coming up with ways to fix the problem or make it better they are looking for someone to blame. I think this has a lot to do with wanting to make themselves look better for next year's elections. If there is to be any progress on the subject of Obamacare, both parties are going to need to start working together and making compromises.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Yarrow and Sam. The Obamacare issue is very old. The Republicans who are still trying to get rid of it really need to move on to more current and relevant issues. They are too focused on pointing out the flaws in Obamacare in order to make the Democrats look bad. Like Katie said, they should stop focusing on why it isn't working and focus on how to make it work.
ReplyDeleteI think the GOP has made it pretty clear that they strongly dislike Obamacare. Even though. Obamacare may be old news at this point, they still want to hammer home the idea that the version of universal health care is a complete failure.
ReplyDeleteYarrow hit the nail on the head with her response. In every language arts class I have ever taken I have been given the advice to use three examples. Three examples as for support of your standpoint. If the GOP can not come up with plans to enact, no one will take them seriously. To be a respected party, you need to show respect. You need to give the Democratic Party reasons and a plan to satisfy the majority.
ReplyDeleteI agree with basically everyone else that we really need to move on from the Obamacare issue. Republicans need to move on and focus on more current issues. As said above, Republicans have no better ideas, so they need to stop trying to fight Obamacare and learn to make it work.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, healthcare should be one of the priorities today, so I guess I disagree with some of you about that. But like everyone else, I am tired of hearing about it because we all know that the debates have gone on for far too long. Even the title of this article bores me. Both parties should be working towards a compromise, and Republicans need to do more than just say Obamacare is dysfunctional in order to gain support.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maddie in that healthcare is an important priority for our country, but at the same time I am getting tired of hearing people complain about Obamacare. It's not enough to just complain about the issues but bother parties need to take action and start focusing in other issues that our country faces.

ReplyDeleteIt just seems to me that, at this point, the GOP is doing anything they can to bring down the Democrat's approval ratings in the wake of midterm elections. Unfortunately, this is the government that we have, one that cares more about votes than about solving problems and getting things done.
